African Consortium for Cancer Clinical Trials

African Consortium for Cancer Clinical Trials (AC3T)

Under the purview of the African Access Initiative (AAI), BIO Ventures for Global Health (BVGH) launched the African Consortium for Cancer Clinical Trials (AC3T) to foster and implement cancer clinical trials led by investigators in Africa. AC3T is designed to build clinical trial capacity and address the cancer data gap in Africa, while increasing access to prioritized cancer diagnostics, medicines, and quality treatment for African cancer patients. AC3T brings together AAI partners and key stakeholders to leverage cross-sector capabilities and empower African clinicians to implement cancer clinical trials in Africa.

Enrollment in high-quality clinical trials is critical for ensuring that medicines, technologies, and practices are safe and effective in all patient populations – including the highly diverse patients residing across Africa. African patients are severely underrepresented in clinical trials, and too few African healthcare facilities have experience conducting clinical trials.

The African Consortium for Cancer Clinical Trials (AC3T) was established to advance clinical research in Africa, erase the cancer data gap in Africa, and accelerate African cancer patients’ access to novel treatments and technologies. Through AC3T, BVGH:

  1. Publicizes Africa’s clinical trial capabilities, experiences, and priorities
  2. Builds clinical trial capacity in Africa
  3. Catalyzes African investigator-initiated cancer research

BVGH’s AC3T Online Platform profiles the cancer clinical trial infrastructures, skills, processes, and resources of healthcare and research facilities in sub-Saharan Africa. See our map platform below to learn more about the investigators and research sites deepening our understanding of cancer in Africa and driving access to life-changing cancer innovations.

Find clinical trial sites by selecting filter parameters from the dropdown menus at the bottom of the map. Sites matching all filters will display on the map — click to view a full profile of the site. Hit reset to clear all filters.
