    Isaac Adeleye, Ph.D.

  • Overview

    Prof. Adeleye is the Head of the Biological Sciences Department at Anchor University, and the Chair of Microbiology at the University of Lagos. A microbiologist by training, his research and clinical trial interests include characterization of bioactive molecules from marine microbes and medicinal plants; pathogenic microbes; bloodstream infections in HIV patients; and molecular characterization of oncogenic viruses implicated in breast cancer. His team has carried out whole genome sequencing of the Nigerian variant of torque teno virus. Prof. Adeleye has published over 90 papers in leading peer-reviewed microbiology journals; received grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the University of Lagos Central Research Committee; and mentored and supervised more than 200 undergraduate, 50 master’s, and 10 Ph.D. students.
