Ocean Road Cancer Institute

Ocean Road, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Public consulting and treatment facility

Serves Eastern Africa

The Ocean Road Cancer Institute (ORCI) is a public cancer consulting and treatment center in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. ORCI is a cancer center of excellence in Tanzania, serving 7,000 patients per year from all of Tanzania and some neighboring countries. ORCI has 273 beds and a clinical staff of 215. ORCI has previously hosted cancer clinical trials in partnership with the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), also located in Dar es Salaam. AC3T’s cancer clinical trials capacity data show that ORCI performs well across most dimensions, but the center outsources some of its diagnostic services to the Tanzania National Laboratory. However, ORCI does have its own molecular laboratory.
