Nurses Equipped with Valuable Skills in Specialized Workshop

In commemoration of International Nurses’ Day, the Medicaid Cancer Foundation, in collaboration with BVGH, Project PINK BLUE, and the Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund, hosted an on-site workshop for oncology nurses practicing in Abuja, Nigeria. The workshop aimed to strengthen the skills of oncology nurses and address barriers to oncology nursing in Nigeria.

Twenty-one nurses from institutions across Abuja, including the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital; Federal Medical Center, Abuja; and National Hospital Abuja, participated in the workshop. The participants were equipped with cutting-edge insights, innovative solutions, and best practices related to HPV vaccination, thermal ablation, and cervical cancer symptoms and risk factors.

Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, the Founder of the Medicaid Cancer Foundation and a Board Member of the Union for International Cancer Control, stressed the need for fostering collaboration, capacity building, and knowledge exchange for a stronger health system, especially in the oncology space. This initiative underscored a collective commitment to advancing oncological nursing care in Nigeria and beyond.
