At the request of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu, BVGH organized and led a 7-lecture AAI digital training program on cancer patient navigation. This course, which was designed to support UNTH’s patient navigation unit, attracted 600 participants from 37 countries, including 583 participants from 23 African countries. Experts from Ohio State University, George Washington University, Moffitt Cancer Center, UNTH, University of California San Francisco, and the Harbin Clinic covered topics prioritized by UNTH, including communication skills, technology and innovation, ethics, multidisciplinary collaboration, and launching a patient navigation program. This course is available on BVGH Learn, allowing UNTH to continually onboard and train new patient navigators and making the program available to all.

“The course broadened my knowledge and active experience in patient navigation, and I am optimistic about the patient navigation practices to come in Nigeria.”
