Following the success of its Advanced Treatment of Pediatric Cancers Part I, BVGH and SIOP Africa conducted a second pediatric oncology course (AAI & SIOP Africa Advanced Treatment of Pediatric Cancers Part II) for pediatric oncology professionals across Africa. The 16-session course focused on the treatment of leukemias, lymphomas, sarcomas, germ cell tumors, and other solid tumors. Expert lecturers from Africa and international institutions delivered presentations focused on cancer diagnosis, staging, risk stratification, and management. Over 700 healthcare professionals from 73 countries participated in the course, continuing to expand access to specialized pediatric oncology education and improve care for children with cancer across the region. Following the course, 88% of participants that responded to the post-course survey reported learning new knowledge or skills they plan to apply in their day-to-day clinical practice, highlighting the course’s practical impact on pediatric cancer care delivery in LMICs.
